One of Scotland's most renowned businessmen, and the longest-serving chairman of Hamilton Accies in the post-war era, Jan Stepek was a prominent resident of Hamilton for over 60 years.
However, his life before he came to Scotland in 1946 at the age of 23 was dramatic and tragic. He lost his home, his country, his father, his mother to starvation, and all his boyhood dreams lay in ruins as he slaved in a Soviet labour camp.
Join his son, Martin, as he explores the astonishing early life of Jan Stepek, as described in Martin's new book; and as it is taking place during Mental Health Month, we will also discuss the impact of trauma Jan experiences, and what creates the resilience it took to turn his destiny around as he sought to find a stable new life in a foreign land, Scotland.
