Hamilton Mausoleum, Tours, South Lanarkshire,

Hamilton Mausoleum is town's most striking historic landmark.  This fascinating monument was built by Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton, as his final resting place.  The building is impressive on the outside, but book one of the tours offered by Museum Staff and you will see just how breathtaking it is, with its massive dome, magnificient bronze doors, marble floors, and eerily atmospheric crypt - to say nothing of the world famous echo!

Tours are available on the first and third Sunday of each month from February to November at 12.00pm and 2.00pm.  Tours must be booked at least 2 days in advance.

Tickets for the 12.00pm tour cost £6.00 and £4.00 for concessions and are available from Low Parks Museum.  After the tour, present your ticket in Low Parks Museum's Mezzanine Cafe for a complimentary bowl of soup or a hot drink and a cake.

Tickets for the 2.00pm tour cost £3.50 and £2.00 for concessions and are available from Low Parks Museum.

Please note that Hamilton Mausoleum is not wheelchair accessible and is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties. We advise visitors to wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear when visiting Hamilton Mausoleum.

Visits to Hamilton Mausoleum can be arranged out with the programmed tours for groups with a minimum of 10 people.

Please contact Low Parks Musuem at or or call 01698 452382 to arrange a tour.

Susan McMillan trained in Glasgow, graduating with a degree in Contemporary Art Practice in 2015. Since her degree she has contributed in a number of collaborative exhibitions whilst also exhibiting on her own in local areas of interest.

Her work has been varied but since qualifying she has concentrated more on her painting. Sketches and photographic images are her main starting point however she believes that her aim is not to replicate but to bring a more painterly and imaginative feel to her work. Susan works mainly in acrylics, mixed media and watercolour. Her current exhibition will showcase some of her newer works which are much more impressionistic as well as retrospective works.
