Fitness usage safety measures

Fitness usage safety measures

The following measures have been implemented to ensure a return to fitness activities are safe and practical at South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture sites. These measures will be in place at all times. They will be updated in line with guidance from the Scottish Government and sport governing bodies, where applicable, following any future change to restrictions.

General customer rules and key points to stop the spread of Coronavirus

Before each class or gym session starts

  • Bookings and payments can be made online and in advance and at our leisure sites
  • You can book back to back sessions or you can stay in the gym, numbers permitting
  • You can drop in at the start of our scheduled sessions / fitness class but again numbers permitting and booking preferable
  • Only attend if you are fit and healthy
  • Only attend if you and anyone in your household are not showing any COVID-19 symptoms
  • Clean and cover wounds
  • Bring prefilled water bottle for personal use only
  • Bringing your own mat is our preferred option, for personal use only
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided - if bringing your own hand sanitiser it is for personal use only
  • Dress appropriately as no changing areas will be available for use
  • Bring face coverings for entering and exiting the building
  • Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the class or session starts

On Arrival

  • You will be met by our ‘Meet and greet’ member of staff for guidance
  • Check in is mandatory for all bookings, either by a member of staff or at our kiosks
  • Adhere to directional and social distancing signage
  • Maintain social distancing

During each class or gym session

  • Adhere to coach or staff instructions and guidelines
  • Maintain social distancing from all other participants, staff and coaches
  • Keep within the zone allocated for each participant
  • Maintain good hygiene – clean hands, avoid touching face, cover coughs and sneezes
  • Use your own water bottle for personal use only
  • Use cleaning stations to clean equipment before use
  • To minimise cross contamination towels are not permitted in the gym. Towels are permitted when attending fitness classes due to participants only being in one designated area. Sweat towels are preferred
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided - if bringing your own hand sanitiser it is for personal use only
  • No sharing equipment, drink or food with other participants, staff and coaches
  • Face coverings are not advised during exercise
  • Be mindful of all participants

At the end of each class or gym session

  • Leave the area promptly, as directed by staff and coaches
  • Adhere to directional and social distance signage
  • Maintain social distancing from all other participants, staff and coaches
  • Maintain good hygiene – clean hands, avoid touching face, cover coughs and sneezes
  • Wear face covering when leaving the class or gym and exiting the building
  • Leave the car park promptly

Access and Departure

  • Will be controlled and monitored by members of staff

Please note:

We ask customers to take reasonable responsibility when taking part in physical activity.

We ask participants to call our South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture head office on 01698 454433 should you have any post visit health issues related to Covid-19.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our customers, staff and coaches any participant not following South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s safety measures to ensure safe training will be asked to leave the class or gym session and reported to authorities.

How to book

  • All bookings and payments can be pre-booked on line
  • You can book back to back sessions or you can stay in the gym numbers permitting
  • You can drop in at the start of our scheduled sessions/fitness class but again numbers permitting and booking preferable

Booking information

  • All fitness classes will be 45 minutes
  • There is no time limit for our gym sessions
  • Pay as you go prices for the gym will be £6.55 and fitness classes are £6.05. Junior and concession prices will apply
  • Fitness, ACE and Activage members will be able to book 7 days in advance, online only
  • 12 and 13 year olds must be accompanied by an adult during times that the gym is unstaffed
  • Pay as you go customers will be able to book 5 days in advance online only
  • The maximum number of participants for classes or gym sessions will depend on each site specific area. This will be altered in line with guidelines as we progress through recovery phases
  • We ask that our customer are mindful of other participants, adhere to our fair use rule and do not book two consecutive sessions
  • If you give four hours’ notice or more of a cancellation, your booking will be moved to another available time. If no suitable time is available, you will receive a full refund. If you fail to give four hours’ notice of a cancellation or do not turn up for a pre-booked class, you will not receive a refund for the lost booking. Members and Activage card holders will be charged a £2 cancellation fee. If you have an outstanding payment (say a £2 cancellation for a class) you may be refused the booking or access to the class until you have paid the outstanding amount.
