Shiona is deaf and has had to adapt to the changes of the enviroment around her throughout her entire life. This was inspired by her, to show that deafness is not to be treated so much like a disbility, and to provoke a change of attitude and awareness towards people who are deaf.
Script based on Shiona McClafferty's essay on her hearing loss.

Activage: Keeping Healthy and Active

Activage: Keeping Healthy and Active

“Physical activity and exercise can help you stay healthy, energetic and independent as you get older.” (NHS)

As you get older it becomes even more important to be active, to stay healthy and maintain your independence. Being physically active will ensure that you can still enjoy doing all the things you took for granted when you were younger, as well as lowering your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, depression and dementia.

It’s a simple health message: if you want to stay pain-free, reduce your risk of mental illness, and be able to go out and stay independent well into old age, you need to keep moving.

There are lots of ways you can keep moving and be active, and it’s not just about exercising. South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Activage initiative provides opportunities for older people to take part in a variety of physical activity programmes and classes, from walking, swimming, fitness classes and gym use to name a few.

For only £53.00 per year you can enjoy unlimited use of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s (SLLC’s) indoor leisure facilities (conditions apply).
