Chopin's Scotland 2025 24 October 2025 7:30pm Free, but ticket pre-booking required Low Parks Museum
Chopin’s Scotland, as part of the Jane Stirling Project, is a tribute to Frédéric Chopin’s pupil and friend. It tells the story of the Great Romantic and the Dunblane-born Jane Stirling – the story that began in Scotland in 1848 and has rested dormant ever since, for nearly two centuries.
During the event, you will have an opportunity to listen to a variety of Chopin's compositions performed by the inimitable Anna DÄ™bowska. Combined with readings from Chopin's letters, they offer a musical voyage in time back to 1848, when Caledonian soil hosted the dying Chopin, impoverished by his declining lot, enriched by numerous tokens of hospitality and genuine friendship. Contextualized by Marcin Jaroszek's narration, Chopin’s Scotland spins a story of love, devotion, disillusionment and unconditional respect for this somewhat whimsical Romantic genius. It tells the story of Jane Wilhelmina Stirling, who gave so much and received so little in return. It tells a story that has so undeservedly fallen into oblivion – a story that will now unfold...

MTDA Performing Arts presents Jack and the Bean Stalk 30 October - 1 November 2025 7:30pm and 2:30pm Saturday matinee £18.50 (subject to £1.50 transaction fee) Village Theatre East Kilbride
A giant tale of magic, mayhem and moo-ving adventures!
Once upon a time in a quiet village, a cheeky lad named Jack lived with his mum and their trusty cow, Daisy. Times were tough, and when the cupboards were bare, Jack was sent to sell the cow at market. But instead of money, what did he get? Magic beans! (We know — typical Jack).
His mum wasn’t impressed and chucked the beans out the window… but by morning, a gigantic beanstalk had shot up into the sky! Being the curious sort, Jack climbed it (as you do) and found himself in a magical land above the clouds — home to a not-so-friendly GIANT!
With help from some new friends (and a few audience shout-outs, of course), Jack nabs a golden-egg-laying hen, a singing harp, and faces off against the giant in a daring escape. Will Jack save the day, make his fortune, and live happily ever after?
Packed with laughs, magic, music, and more than a few surprises, Jack and the Beanstalk is a panto adventure that’s larger than life — just like the beanstalk.
