BygoneCon Returns This October!

Join us for the fifth BygoneCon - South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Libraries' Heritage and Local History Convention - taking place on Saturday 11 October at East Kilbride Central Library.

BygoneCon brings together local and family history groups, archives, researchers, and community projects to celebrate our shared heritage, showcase their work, and connect with visitors.

Drop in any time between 10amd and 4pm to explore fascinating stalls, displays and presentations - and get expert advice on exploring your own history.

What's New This Time?

We're introducing a brand new feature:

AI and Heritage - explore how artificial intelligence is being used to colourise or animate old photographs, and join the conversation about when these digital enhancements are appropriate.

Take a sneak peek at this amazing colourised photo of East Kilbride Village.

There will also be a special focus on the history and future of East Kilbride Town Centre, including current library displays and regeneration plans.

Before you leave, don't forget to record your thoughts at our Lending Voices Podcast Station and help shape the future of BygoneCon.

Two and Tending

Presented by EK Rep Theatre Club (Registered Scottish Charity SC020852).

An evening of comedy and pathos.

Two

By Jim Cartwright.

Directed by Allan Reddick.

A bickering husband and wife and the dozen regulars who pass through their pub in an evening are played by two actors. Each vignette skilfully combines pathos and humour. When a little boy is left behind by his father, a fragile reconciliation occurs as their own dark tragedy is revealed.

This amateur production of ‘Two’ is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

By El Blackwood.

Directed by Claire Brogan.

Tending is the first award winning verbatim play that explores the lives of NHS nurses. This is a play set on the fault lines of our health service, created with the community that holds it up. Tending asks an essential question: When the system is under pressure and lives are on the line, who cares for the carers?

This amateur production of ‘Tending’ is presented by arrangement with El Blackwood.

Available to book online or by calling East Kilbride Arts Centre on 01355 261000.
