Well now's your chance to emulate the likes of Stan Laurel, Robbie Coltrane and Andy Cameron by taking to the stage and sharing your favourite funny stories, memories, anecdotes or even historical tales and myths about the Royal Burgh from any point across its 900 years.
But don't be daunted if you've never taken to the stage before as we've former Scottish Comedian of the Year and two-time Sir Billy Connolly Award nominee and journalist at The Rutherglen Reformer Scott Agnew in to help out.
He'll whip your wisecracks into shape over a five-week course before a showcase night at Rutherglen Town Hall telling your favourite funny stories about life and love or whatever else has made you laugh about Rutherglen.
So, get your thinking cap on and bring us stories of growing up, working or wild nights out in the Royal Burgh or perhaps even recount some old yarns passed down your family over the years. Let's hear them!
This is an excellent opportunity to learn some new skills, including a taster for creative writing, public speaking and performing in a relaxed and supportive environment celebrating 900 years of Rutherglen and honouring the old Royal Burgh!

Still Painting After All These Years
From the artist
My full name is Robert Hair Miller, and I was born in Dalmarnock Road in Bridgeton, Glasgow in 1954. I attended Thomson Street Primary School in Dennistoun then Whitehill Senior Secondary School. I did have the honour of reaching the highest mark in my art higher in the history of the one-hundred-year-old school at the time.
I became a carpet designer at Lyle’s Carpet Factory after leaving school but was made redundant after only two years when the factory was closed. I decided to go to Glasgow School of Art at the age of twenty-one but left there after two and a half years to make my living playing keyboards in various pop bands.
I didn't lift a paint brush for about twenty years.
I decided to paint again when I was forty mainly because it has always been my passion.
This exhibition is really to show I have many interests in the art world although portraiture will always be top of my list.
I have painted many faces through the years but one of my favourite images is of Amy Winehouse. Amy's mum Janis has one of my paintings and I have a treasured photo of Janis holding the painting of her daughter.
I hope this selection of paintings interests the people who take the time to visit, thanks in advance, Robert.

The Little Mermaid 17-21 February 2026 7:00pm / Saturday matinee 2:30pm £20 (subject to £1.50 transaction fee) Village Theatre East Kilbride
The Minerva Juniors present The Little Mermaid.
In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
