Annie Swan Annuals

Annie Swan Annuals

Annie Swan Annuals

The annuals on display were published in the 1930s by the Dundee company, John Leng and Co. The annuals, which belonged to a lady from Hamilton, contain stories from various romance writers such as Henry de Vere Stacpoole, Agnes Grozier Herbertson and, of course, Annie Swan.

Annie Shepherd Swan (1859-1943) was a Scottish author born in Midlothian. She is known primarily for her romantic fiction novels but also wrote short stories, poetry, and books based around political issues such as the suffragist movement. During her lifetime, Annie wrote around 200 books, mostly under her maiden name, but also used the pen name David Lyall, and her married name, Mrs Burnett-Smith.
