Active Schools Volunteer Recognised at National Awards

Active Schools Volunteer Recognised at National Awards

Congratulations to South Lanarkshire Active Schools Volunteer Megan on winning the Scottish Women in Sport - Most Compassionate Volunteer of the Year Award 2020.

Megan has been one of our most influential and longest serving Active Schools volunteers, in particular to the Hamilton Active Schools team over the past five years.  Megan’s first encounter with Active Schools was being part of the Sports Coach Academy Programme when she was at Holy Cross High School.  Over the past five years Megan has given up hundreds of hours volunteering for Active Schools, delivering and leading on various local, regional and national programmes and events.  Megan has a fantastic reputation within the Hamilton schools and has built up a great rapport within various Learning Communities.  She has been part of our very own Young People’s Sport Panel and has just recently represented South Lanarkshire within sportscotland’s National Young People’s Panel.  Furthermore, Megan sits on the Hamilton Sports Council as a Primary School Representative, being a voice for the schools and assisting the Sports Council with their annual events.

Megan continues to show her willingness to support a wide range of activities within the community, more recently during the COVID pandemic, giving up her time to deliver fun and safe football sessions to a Community Group Partnership project within the Hamilton area.

Megan is an extremely motivated and a very capable volunteer and the Active Schools Team are very fortunate to have a volunteer like her.  Well Done Megan!
