Scottish Parliament Election – Facility Closure Information

The 2026 Scottish Parliament Election will be held on Thursday 7 May.

Certain facilities across South Lanarkshire will be closed for normal operations on election day to allow residents to vote.

The list of facilities closed on election day is as follows:

Clydesdale

• South Lanarkshire Lifestyles, Carluke
• Biggar Municipal Hall
• Leadhills Hall
• Symington Hall
• Brocketsbrae Hall
• Rigside Community Hall
• Coalburn Leisure Complex

East Kilbride

• Ballerup Recreation Area Pavilion
• Alistair McCoist Complex

• East Kilbride Arts Centre

Rutherglen and Cambuslang

• Springhall Community Centre
• Cathkin Primary School

Hamilton

• Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre
• Eddlewood Public Hall
• Craigbank Primary School
• TACT Hall – Blantyre

South Lanarkshire Lifestyles, Fairhill, Fernhill Community Centre, and the nursery at Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre will remain open as normal.

The John Wright Sports Centre will be closed from Monday 4 May until Monday 11 May and during this time, there will be no access to the car park.

This extended closure is required to allow for the set-up and take-down of the facility during the election period.
