Duo Marier 24 February 2026 2:00pm Free, but tickets must be booked in advance Rutherglen Town Hall
Neil (cello) and Austin (guitar) are Duo Marier - a musical duo blending classical training with a love for genre-crossing creativity.
We met at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, but our collaboration truly began in the Scottish Highlands. While walking through dramatic landscapes and sharing stories, we realised a mutual passion for chamber music and the joy of making music that connects with people on a personal level. That conversation led us to form Duo Marier - a space where cello and guitar could explore everything from classical to jazz, pop, folk, tango, and beyond.
Our approach is rooted in curiosity and connection. With just two instruments, we aim to create rich, expressive sound worlds that tell stories - sometimes familiar, sometimes unexpected, always sincere. We enjoy blurring the boundaries between genres, reshaping well-known pieces and discovering new ones that speak to both us and our audiences.
We joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2025, excited by the opportunity to bring live music into a variety of community settings. We're especially looking forward to performing in care homes and ASN schools - settings we're passionate about and well-prepared for. We believe music has the power to uplift, comfort, and bring people together - and we're excited to be part of a scheme that brings that belief to life.
Whether we're playing in a concert hall, a classroom or community setting, our aim is always the same: to offer something warm, thoughtful, and full of heart.
