Magical Mozart

From the producers of a Viennese Strauss Gala, and now in its 10th year, stars of the West End’s ‘Phantom’ appear in this sumptuous fully-costumed show immersing us in the wonderful music and the classical baroque world of one of the world's greatest romantic composers; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

With beautiful settings, costumes, lighting and of course candles the European baroque ensemble and world class opera singers transport you back to the sumptuous past.

A packed programme of classical music and song, which includes excerpts from the most memorable of Mozart’s operas, such as The Magic Flute, The Marriage  of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte and many more.

Mozart’s most popular and famous operas are all beautifully sung by the world class soloists who, alongside the ensemble, perform some of his most memorable pieces of music including: Symphony no 40, Lacrimosa (Requiem D minor) and Eine Kleine Nacht Musik.

Exhibition: The Dutch Don’t Forget – The Cameronians in the British Liberation Army

The Dutch Don't Forget exhibition at Low Parks Museum

Standing outside the entrance to Low Parks Museum is a simple, bronze memorial plaque on a polished granite plinth that bears the words “The Dutch Don’t Forget”. The plaque was presented to veterans of the 52nd (Lowland) Division, a Scottish, Territorial Army formation that played a vital part in the liberation of the Netherlands in the final stages of the Second World War. The message is simple, the Dutch will never forget the sacrifices made by the men of the 52nd (Lowland) Division in freeing them from Nazi oppression.

Two battalions of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) proudly fought in the Dutch campaign in the Second World War. The 6th Battalion, historically covering the county of Lanarkshire, and the 7th Battalion, drawn mainly from the south side of the city of Glasgow.

This commemorative exhibition highlights the part played by these two battalions, as part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division, in this pivotal stage of the Second World War.

Free entry, open Tuesday to Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm.

Hillhouse and Earnock Art Group

Hillhouse & Earnock Art Group was established in 2003 by retired Art Teacher Heather Darling.

Our adult classes are held weekly on a Wednesday morning and afternoon and Thursday evening.

The classes are small and welcoming and cover a range of mediums and artistic techniques. Each artist is encouraged to develop their own style within a given theme and medium. There is a varied programme of activities throughout the year, with visiting tutors who bring their own styles and teaching methods.

Some members have been attending for many years, however the classes are equally suitable for complete beginners, as well as more experienced painters. All material and equipment is provided. All you have to bring with you is enthusiasm!

The group takes part in several local exhibitions and Fayres where members can display and sell their work. We organise excursions to venues including Edinburgh and Glasgow to view exhibitions and provide a yearly day trip to the Pittenweem Art Festival.

While the classes are well attended, we do occasionally have spaces. If you are interested in joining our group, please email  hillhouseandearnockartgroup@gmail.com

We are delighted to be showing in the EK Arts Centre once again, and we hope you enjoy the selection of artwork on display.
