We offer workshops focusing on Habitats and Ecosystems, Rainforest, Minibeasts, Food Chains, Classification and Adaptations. For more details on what workshops we currently offer, see below. These workshops are great for team work exercises.

Rainforest - The rainforest package gives children the chance to meet some rainforest animals up-close, including creepy crawlies, small mammals and a reptile. They will also be able to watch some rainforest animals such as the coatis, monkeys and kookaburras being fed before having the opportunity to draw the wallabies and kookaburras at the Australia Exhibit. The afternoon session will include a rainforest layers game where the students have to match animals with the appropriate layers of the rainforest and then guess which products originate from the rainforest. Finally, there is a hunt around the conservatory for the different rainforest plants and the children have to determine the uses of the different plants.
Minibeasts - The Minibeasts package involves the students meeting some invertebrates up-close. They will also have the opportunity to do some pond-dipping/sweep netting the country park fields looking for bugs. They can then identify and release the bugs. The afternoon session involves a leaf cutter ant quiz in the tropical house.
Habitats and Ecosystems - The morning session will involve a feeding tour and animal encounter where the children will watch some animals from different ecosystems being fed and will discuss the habitats they originate from. They can then handle some animals from different ecosystems and guess which ecosystem they originate from. The afternoon session will involve a hunt around the zoo determining which animals come from different habitats.
Classification - The students will be asked to describe the different kingdoms of animals as seen in the conservatory. They will then have to match the animal kingdoms with their defining features. The second session of the day will involve the students watching some animals being fed and handling some animals and then figuring out which animals belong to which kingdom. The final part of the day involves the children getting to hunt around the zoo in teams listing some of the animals from each kingdom.
Adaptations - The morning session will involve the students completing a scavenger hunt around the country park, searching for bio facts including feathers, horns and teeth. They will then draw an animal and label all of the adaptations of that animal. They will then look at different native species and in groups determine the different adaptations of those animals. The afternoon session involves a game matching the animal to their adaptations and a hunt around the zoo figuring out the adaptations of some of the animals if time allows.
Food Chains - The morning session involves the children watching some animals being fed and handling some animals up-close before describing them as ‘prey’ or ‘predators’, ‘herbivores’, ‘omnivores’ and ‘carnivores’. The afternoon session involves the students putting together their own food chains using the zoo animals as examples.

If none of the workshops above focus on what you are looking for please let us know the topic and we should be able to tailor a workshop to suit your requirements.
